Ceremony and Reception Venue
The Chapel and reception venue, or Lapa, are both beautifully situated at the edge of pristine indigenous forest and overlook the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountain ranges. The Lapa can accommodate up to 110 guests, and with its open plan design, 180 degree views and natural rustic finishes, it offers a true taste of Africa yet adapts easily to a variety of themes and décor. A vast deck and equipped kitchen complete the facilities.
The resident herd of elephants will pay tribute to your vows if you wish. There is nothing more wonderful than a special occasion being blessed by these gentle giants – depending on your sequence of events, your guests can interact with the elephants before or during the reception.
Renowned chef Simon Ash (of Brothers and 57 Kloof fame) has created a delectable choice of plated or buffet menus using the freshest available ingredients. Keeping in mind that each wedding is unique, our menu options are merely ideas and they can be tailored to suit your needs.
Luxury Accommodation
Luxurious accommodation is provided for in the Elephant Lodge. Here six stylish rooms, each with a distinct elephant theme and a central lounge overlooking the elephants, deliver a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In the Lodge you will be privy to the elephants’ every sound and movement, and will also be able to answer the question – do elephants lie down when they are sleeping?

Wedding Packages
For those bridal couples wanting to create their own special theme upon the basics of what their wedding requires, we have developed the Harry met Sally Package. This package will offer you the necessities of your wedding requirements in terms of venue and catering. All the more personal details (such as minister, flowers, music etc) are then left up to you to decide upon, with us helping you as much as you wish.

- Welcome basket and champagne for the bridal couple.
- A discounted rate on the remaining rooms will be offered to your wedding guests should they wish to stay over at the Elephant Park. Subject to availability and booking is essential.

Terms and Conditions
Payment:
- To secure the date and venue, the client agrees to pay a non-refundable deposit of 10% of the estimated invoice. This must be paid within 10 days of the enquiry.
- 50% of the estimated amount of the invoice is then payable four months before the date of confirmation, with the balance due one week prior to guests arrival.
- Knysna Elephant Park reserves the right to cancel such a reservation without prior notice, unless such a deposit has been received.
- Banking details: Please e-mail or fax proof of payment to Knysna Elephant Park once payment has been made. Please remember to write your name clearly on the deposit slip. Please note: Your booking will only be secured when proof of payment for the deposit is received. Before payment, Knysna Elephant Park may take other bookings.
Cancellation policy:
In the case that a client wants to cancel the booking, the following will apply:
- If written notice from the client to the supplier is received by fax or e-mail prior to 4 months of the date of arrival, there will be no charge.
- If written notice from the client to the supplier is received fax or e-mail 4 months or less to the date of arrival, Knysna Elephant Park will retain 50% of the 50% deposit paid.
- If written notice from the client to the supplier is received fax or e-mail less than two weeks to the date of arrival, the 50% prepayment will be forfeited.
- We suggest that you are covered by travel insurance in the event of unforeseen cancellation.
Confirmation of details:
- All changes to the chosen menu must be made two weeks before the function. If changes are made to the menu, price is subject to change.
- The final numbers for the function must be confirmed three weeks before the event, together with the order of events / time schedules / bar requirements.
- Kindly note that no liquor or food may be brought onto the premises.
- The client is responsible for the guest seating plan, guest list and table numbers.
- Normal function hours are until 24h00. A surcharge of R1 000.00 will be charged for every hour after midnight.
- Gratuity is excluded from the rate.
Risk/Loss/Damage:
- Due to the high risk of fires in this fynbos area, Knysna Elephant Park will not allow candles to be placed directly on linen and reserve the right to remove the candles if the candleholder is not wide enough.
- Damage to our property and theft will be charged for at full replacement cost.
No guests allowed in the kitchen.
- No paper confetti allowed on the premises.
- Whilst every precaution will be taken to ensure the safeguarding of your belongings, Knysna Elephant Park will not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage of any kind.
- Knysna Elephant Park will not be held responsible for any injuries to guests.
Functions and Conferencing
Perfect for any celebration or gathering, this venue comfortably seats up to 120 people. The Lapa has hosted a number of high profile events and has the added advantage of never having to be ‘dressed’ for the occasion. Its natural design lends itself to easily adopting small touches of your personality, or corporate identity, in preparation for your special occasion. Self-catering facilities are available on the premises at our luxurious Elephant Lodge.

The restaurant at Knysna Elephant Park operates independently; open for breakfast, lunch and tea, Elephant Park Restaurant has been known to serve the best carrot and chocolate cake on the Garden Route! Dinners are catered for on request. Elephant Park Restaurant will also happily cater for any function or event by prior arrangement.
